As you may have heard, we’ve made a bit of an announcement… we’re now official distributors of Valrhona chocolates!
We’ve been keeping this under wraps for a while now and we’re so glad to be able to share this exciting news with you. You’ll see we have 15 different chocolates from Valrhona, with options from their Grand Cru, Professional and Indulgent ranges (discover more about these below), catering to every chocolatier’s desire! From the Manjari 64% chocolate created all the way back in 1990 as the first ethical chocolate (we can’t believe 1990 was 33 years ago either…) to the rich and moreish Dulcey 35%.
As you can probably tell, we’re over the moon to be working alongside Valrhona in bringing their chocolates to you.
Some things you may not know about Valrhona
Valrhona is a French chocolate manufacturer known for their fine chocolates, in collections based on their flavour and texture profiles.
You can also be assured of their ethical and sustainability standards, due to their B Corp certification. Meaning they are part of a group of companies committed to upholding the highest ethical standards, as well as adhering to B Corp standards on their social and environmental impact. Some examples include maintaining 100% traceability of their chocolate, 83% of their packaging being recyclable and a 39% decrease in energy consumption since 2013!
The Valrhona range
Guanaja 70%
In 1986, Valrhona managed to create the world’s most bitter chocolate at the time with a cocoa content of 70 %. The bitterness of Guanaja envelopes around it’s balanced profile, revealing an aromatic range of warm notes. Today, it still stands as an incredible dark chocolate and works especially well in ice cream and gelato applications.
Dulcey 35%
A smooth and indulgent chocolate with notes of biscuit and salt, Dulcey is the result of talented French pastry chef, Frédéric Bau accidentally leaving his white chocolate in the bain-marie overnight. The next morning, he was surprised to see the Dulcey Blond colour with toasty shortbread aromas. After 8 years of experimentation, Valrhona perfected this recipe to create the sensorial chocolate we now know today.
Satilia Lactee 35%
A rounded classic milk chocolate with notes of biscuit and delicate sweetness, Satllia Lactee is a balanced yet moreish chocolate, developed specifically for coating bonbons, giving flawless results every time.
Grand Cru, Professional & Indulgent ranges
You’ll see on our selection of Valrhona chocolates, each one is categorised into their own range based on their flavour profiles and workability.
The Grand Cru range:
A selection of chocolates dedicated solely to Valrhona’s finest flavours and textures, aimed at those looking to perfect their recipes or experiment with new flavours. The term Grand Cru also actually refers to the Terrior (a natural environment where wine is produced).
The Professional range:
This range is comprised of core chocolates made with reliability and consistency in mind. So you can be sure of a robust chocolate with the same tasty notes every time!
The Indulgent range:
A selection of chocolates from which you can expect rich, luxurious flavour profiles, leaving you wanting more… and more. We’re obviously not allowed to have favourites, but if we did…
So, if you’ve read enough, you’ll be pleased to hear the chocolates are available now! You can find the full Valrhona range on our website and of course, should you need more information, we’re always on hand to help. We’ll also be doing a deep dive into all 15 of the chocolates over the coming months.
