Montecristi Chocolate was created by Susana Cárdenas Overstall and her business partner Lucía Fernandez to produce fine chocolate couverture from ethically sourced Arriba cacao beans. Born in Manabí, Ecuador, Susana spent her childhood weekends at her father’s cacao plantation, cultivating her expertise in cacao flavours and beans from around the world. Montecristi Chocolate is an artisanal company producing single-origin, organic, fine chocolate couverture. They produce their chocolate in small batches in order to ensure premium quality, flavour and an entirely traceable supply chain. All Montecristi cacao is sourced from independent farmers in the Manabí, where the chocolate itself is also produced. “This way, we know who we’re dealing with, who we’re paying and what we’re getting.”
